Nova and Chantal from Queen Sugar

Queen Sugar is a family melodrama created by Ava DuVernay for Oprah Winfrey Network. The series is an adaptation of Natalie Baszile’s novel in which two sisters and a brother, after the death of their father, regain control over his farm and sugar cane fields in Louisiana. Queen Sugar shows a wide variety of characters including a lot of afro-americans: Nova Bordelon is a militant specialist in traditional medicine, her sister Charley is a business woman landed in Los Angeles, and their brother Ralph Angel just got out of prison. With its overall good actors (like the beautiful Rutina Wesley from True Blood) and a narrative commendable patience, the series establish itself as a soap opera of high quality from the first episode. We are introduced to Chantal (Reagan Gomez) in the sixth episode called As Promised, and she is hitting on Nova just after their encounter in a radio show. They meet again in the next episode called In No Uncertain Terms, their interactions on screen is limited to a few brief, but enjoyable scenes.
