Wentworth Season 5 premieres April 4, 2017

The fifth season of Wentworth will premiere Tuesday April 4, 2017 on Showcase. After leaving viewers in shock at the end of last season, the story resumes in the days following Bea Smith’s (Danielle Cormack) tragic death at the hands of Joan Ferguson. Wentworth is a dynamic, often confronting, drama series that begins with Bea’s early days in prison. Set in the present day, it’s a modern interpretation of Prisoner that reinvents and contemporises iconic characters from the original for today’s audience. Powered by edge-of-your-seat drama, self deprecating humour, and lasting friendships, it takes the audience inside an uncompromising environment that explores the politics of women in a divided world, and how such a confronting experience both challenges and changes you, sometimes for the better.
